BOHS P400 Asbestos Foundation Module

Our BOHS P400 course is an essential introduction to the BOHS P module courses, serving as a solid foundation for candidates. Our aim is to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge regarding health risks associated with asbestos exposure, along with relevant legislation and safe working procedures for effective management of asbestos materials.

Candidates for this course are not expected to have prior knowledge and experience but having an awareness of the contents of both HSG248 Asbestos: The analysts’ guide (July 2021) and HSG264 Asbestos: the survey guide January 2010), would be advantageous.

The Subject areas covered are:

• Understanding the historical uses of asbestos and familiarisation with commonly used asbestos types.
• Detailed exploration of the health risks posed by asbestos exposure
• In-depth knowledge of control limits and exposure standards
• An overview of legislation and guidance applicable to individual role
• Recognising the significance of integrity and independence within individual roles
• Understanding the requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including proper usage and decontamination procedures.
• Equipping candidates with the necessary skills to handle incidents, particularly within laboratory environments.
