In accordance with the University’s Asbestos Management Plan, regular asbestos awareness training is provided to staff in a wide range of roles across the University. This is tailored to specific roles and responsibilities and includes an overview of the following subjects; history, health effects, legislation, identification, emergency procedures, risks, and management.
In May 2024, G&L Consultancy Ltd. conducted nine sessions for a large cohort of staff across the University as part of the University’s asbestos awareness training. Alan Lewis (G&L) provided bespoke training material for each of the groups with relevant information based on staff roles and responsibilities.
Alan’s approach was engaging and collaborative, providing anecdotal examples of best practice & project examples throughout sessions. Alan was able to provide clear and practical guidance whilst using open discussion to develop knowledge of the subject. Alan clearly guided staff through the University’s asbestos management processes and use of associated software.
Subsequent staff feedback received noted training to be both informative and engaging throughout.
I have used G&L for a number of years on numerous properties and have always found the company and staff to be polite, efficient and professional. I recently attended the Managing Safely IOSH course at your Banbridge training facility and found the course more enjoyable than I expected. Days were well planned out with plenty of breaks so the days didn’t feel monotonous and long as some health and safety courses often do. Instructor was first class and delivered the course in such a manner that everyone taking the course felt involved. Food provided for us during the day was also excellent so I can’t really fault it.

I have to be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to today’s training session at all – what can you say about asbestos for 3 hours? I have to say however, I found it really interesting! The way the course was laid out made it very interactive and the quiz (again, dreading that bit) made it really fun. Thank you for bringing life to this topic!
