Training Course
Our Non-Licensed Work with Asbestos course offers practical knowledge and skills for individuals working on non-licensed asbestos-containing materials. This training follows the procedures outlined in CAR2012 Regulation 3(2) and HSG210 Asbestos Essentials, focusing on tasks such as drilling through textured coated ceilings, removal of asbestos cement roof sheets, and removal of vinyl floor tiles.
Key topics covered in this course include understanding the dangers of asbestos, different types of asbestos and their uses, relevant asbestos legislation, safe practices for working with non-licensed asbestos-containing materials such as asbestos cement, textured coating, and minor work with asbestos insulating board. Additionally, the course emphasizes the appropriate management of asbestos waste and the proper removal and replacement of asbestos-containing materials.
By completing this training, individuals gain the necessary knowledge and skills to safely and compliantly handle non-licensed asbestos-containing materials. This course helps protect both workers and the surrounding environment from the risks associated with asbestos exposure.

This course provides the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to persons who will knowingly disturb asbestos containing materials during the course of their work activities, including building maintenance workers and supervisory personnel, and building maintenance managers. Successful completion of the course will allow candidates to undertake asbestos non licensed works in accordance with the Control of Asbestos regulations 2012 and all associated Codes of practice
Training is in accordance with Regulation 10 of Work with materials containing asbestos, Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Approved Code of Practice and guidance (L143) and Equipment and Methods Sheet EM2 of Asbestos essentials: A task manual for building, maintenance and allied trades on non-licensed asbestos work (Second edition) (HSG210)
The training will cover the topics in appropriate detail, by means of both written and oral presentation, and by demonstration as necessary.
The term practical in this context means hands-on training where delegates practice going through procedures, usually in a simulated environment. For example:
A question and answer session will be held at the end of each module to ensure each learner has reached the necessary level of understanding.
Tutor assessment of learner performance during practical sessions with continual oral feedback.
A timed, invigilated, closed-book written examination will be individually completed by each learner at the end of the course, with 80% being the pass mark.
The end of course written paper will draw at least 25 short answer and multiple-choice questions from a module-based question bank, to include no less than two questions from each module.
Completed exam papers are retained by the course provider
Written Assessment covering LO1-LO11
80% pass mark (pass / fail)
Maximum of 10:1
The length of this face to face course is dependent on the training needs analysis of the learner(s) but it is generally expected that a minimum of 1 day (6 hours excluding breaks) (excluding breaks) is acceptable. Shorter duration courses are allowable but this must be robustly supported by the training needs analysis.
The learner must have completed a verified (through certification) asbestos awareness course within the last 12 months with a suitably recognised training provider. The asbestos awareness course can be attended immediately prior to the non-licensed work with asbestos training.
Prior to each non-licensed work with asbestos training course; training needs analysis must be undertaken to ensure that the course (included equipment & method and task sheets) is relevant to delegates requirements.
