As a key industry stakeholder, G&L Consultancy has received new guidance from the Asbestos Network Technical Working Group and HSE. This guidance addresses ASB5 finish dates, asbestos skips, van waste compartments, waste storage and movement on site, and the handover of enclosures to analysts for 4-stage clearance.

G&L Consultancy is dedicated to leading the way in implementing this guidance to ensure the safety of both workers and the public. Below, we have listed the key takeaways. You can find the corresponding documents through the ‘View Document’ links.

This guidance is designed for licensed asbestos removal contractors (LARCs), but it is also highly relevant to anyone engaged in asbestos-related work. We strongly encourage other businesses within the asbestos industry to read and understand the new guidance.

If you wish to discuss any of these documents and their implications for our business practices and your role as a client, please don’t hesitate to contact Mark: mark.skinner@gnl.org.uk

ASB5 Finish Dates Summary (View Document):

HSE has updated the ASB5 database, allowing amendments to the expected finish date for asbestos removal work only within the notification period. To ensure compliance, plan your work accurately, including the four-stage clearance, and submit the ASB5 notification with the expected finish date. If changes are needed, update the ASB5 system promptly before the current period expires. If the period has ended, make the site safe and email ALU with the new finish date, original notification, and an explanation. An assessor will review and either grant a short extension or request a new notification. Ensure your systems are operational if you encounter database issues.
